MANILA, Philippines—The departures continue to pile up for the University of the East before UAAP Season 88.
Following shifty guard Rainer Maga’s departure from the Red Warriors last week, Devin Fikes has also bid adieu to the UE ahead of the league’s next season.
Fikes officially announced the development on his Instagram on Friday afternoon, clarifying he won’t be suiting up for any other collegiate teams in the UAAP—or even the NCAA.
“Now that everything is out, I will be going back to school in Canada and will not be transferring to another school in the Philippines,” bared the dynamic forward.
“The only school I would be playing for is where I am right now.”
Maga, meanwhile, jumped ship from UE to the UP Fighting Maroons.
All in all, Fikes spent two seasons with UE, both runs under coach Jack Santiago, after arriving in 2023.
The moves from Maga and Fikes were made soon after Chris Gavina’s appointment as the squad’s head coach in February.
Fikes was an instrumental piece in UE’s Season 87 run when the Red Warriors finished just a game short of a Final Four spot with a 6-8 card.
The 6-foot-6 swingman averaged 6.29 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.14 assists per game last tourney for UE.
