MANILA, Philippines — Jyne Soreño provided the spark off the bench as La Salle recovered from a disappointing second-set defeat to University of the East and tallied its first back-to-back wins of the UAAP Season 87 women’s volleyball tournament.

Soreño scored most of her 12 points in the third to lead La Salle past UE, 25-12, 23-25, 25-14, 25-17, and improve to a 3-2 record on Saturday at Mall of Asia Arena.

“I think what I saw outside was that it felt like the connection between everyone was lost. “I just did my part as a senior. I’m always there for Shev, and whenever Coach Ramil calls me to play, I’m ready. It’s because that’s really been my role from the start. I truly stood by the trust that was given to me,” she said.

As they face rival Ateneo on Wednesday, Soreño is eager to work on their lapses.

“As Coach Noel (Orcullo) and Angel (Canino) said, we really need to work harder. Especially after what happened in today’s game, we need to polish what went wrong in this game and apply it when we face Ateneo,” said Soreño.
