MANILA, Philippines—La Salle won’t have Kevin Quiambao beginning next UAAP season, but fortunately for the Green Archers, their other star Mike Phillips isn’t going anywhere.

While Quiambao was mum when asked about his future before announcing his decision to take his talents to the Korean Basketball League, Phillips didn’t waste any time declaring his intention to run it back with the Green Archers for one final ride next year.

“La Salle has given me everything that I have so I just want to play and be a part of La Salle for my last year with my brothers,” said Phillips after La Salle’s heartbreaking 66-62 loss to rival University of the Philippines in Game 3 of the UAAP Season 87 men’s basketball Finals on Sunday at Araneta Coliseum.

“The whole La Sallian community has given me so much. They’ve taken good care of me and my family. I want to give it my all [in my] last year. You guys (La Salle) made a commitment so I’m gonna honor that commitment and play my last year.”

The dynamic forward gave it his all with 18 points and 12 rebounds in the Game 3 loss to the Maroons.

“I was really proud of how we fought. When the Xs and Os went wrong and when nothing seemed to be going right, [my] guys still showed fight,” he said.

“There is nothing to be ashamed of. They gave everything, and I’m so proud of them.”

With Phillips back in tow, La Salle will remain one of the favorites to rule Season 88 with the addition of blue-chip recruits Mason Amos, Jacob Cortez and Kean Baclaan.
