Bemedaled wushu star Agatha Wong and seasoned pool shark Rubilen Amit spearhead a 47-strong Philippine contingent that will be shooting to win a third golf medal in the World Games set Aug. 7-17 in Chengdu, China.

Karateka ace Junna Tsukii is also on the roster and will be eyeing a second straight gold after ruling her event in the Birmingham Games in 2022 that jacked up the PH haul to two-golds, five silvers and five bronze medals since seeing action in the event that hosts non-Olympics events starting in 1981.
Wakeboarding sensation Raph Trinidad and Wong will be the flag bearers in elaborate opening rites at Tianfu International Convention Center in Chengdu.

“We’re eyeing a significant improvement in these Chengdu World Games from the previous edition in Birmingham,” Philippine Olympic Committee president Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino said.

The 27-year-old Wong will be competing in the women’s taolu taijiquan bear hands and sword.

“I’m grateful to carry the flag. I feel so really blessed about the opportunity that I got for the first time to compete in the World Games,” said Wong, during a photo shoot program at Rizal Memorial Coliseum on Thursday.

She qualified for Chengdu with her silver medal at the 2023 World Wushu Games in Texas.
